Sarah Palin

I thought I should give a few of my thought regarding Sarah Palin. She is making history after all. My thoughts are for my future posterity. I am not in any way a political annalist, but I have noticed several things in the past week.

I have read many bad things about Palin and many good things about Palin. Democrats that are more liberal than most seem to think she is exceptionally unprepared and inexperienced. Calling out her short life in public office, her five kids , a five month old with special needs , her inability to do "have it all" citing her seventeen year old that is pregnant out of wedlock; where was she as a mom, her lack of experience in foreign affairs and foreign politics, and even many claims that have come out and have been proven false. Some feminist have done a complete flip flops.

On the other hand conservatives think she is so awesome. Conservative tend to lean toward traditional values. I think one traditional value is that a women, if they can stay at home raising and nurturing their children.{not barefoot and pregnant, but anxiously engaged in a good cause} I think it is great that she is a women of values that mostly mirror mine. I do believe she is a fighter for good. I think she embraces Faith, Family, and Country. I believe she wants to help the average "Joe" like me. I like that she has stood up to the hard line oil industry and the good'ol'boys club. I believe she is for small government and despises excess waste.

So where do I stand...well, I know I will not be popular in saying this, but I think it would be pretty tough on a family to have the mother gone so much. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vice_President_of_the_United_States I know many, many families do this in this country and else where in the world. Does that make it right? Does this mean I am gender bias as to who should be in office and who shouldn't? On the contrary, I think we need a woman President. I think women are pretty bright people. They multi-task much better than men, in general. Never question a women's intuition, we know a lie when we see one and we can see them coming from a mile away. We need someone that doesn't back down and will do what it take to protect her {children, country, territory} Don't mother's do this instinctively?

Why aren't people putting this question to men in office? Doesn't Mccain have seven kids and Obama two little ones.. Where are they as fathers? Are their kids getting short changed?

So, I am in a corundum. This is an interesting turn of events in our history. It makes one think a little bit more and dig a little deeper. I am just so grateful to have the freedom to ask these questions and pursue different avenues of thought without being jailed or stoned to death. I have many more questions about this political process and reading the duties of the VP bring up more, and really shouldn't my efforts be put into asking question about the actual candidates, but I am tired and need my rest, so I can be engaged in a good work tomorrow. I guess time will tell.

I agree with you whole heartedly. We have only seen snippets of the news, but this clearly states my concerns and evaluation of the situation. I had been rooting for Romney, but that didn't happen. This has certainly been a different type of election.
It has been interesting the comments we have received from the Trinis who saw the election materials on the counter at the office. They were unanimous in encouraging us to vote. I am sure they have been extra interested because we have a black running for president.

I have mixed emotions on her motherhood responsibilities. I am hoping if she gets in, she won't have to compromise that to the extent her kids would suffer. I do think sometimes, special people, are called to give in special ways. Even in church callings. I think alot of her personally from what I have read and heard, and it is hard not to be excited about that. If she was a member of the church, it would be intersting to see how the prophet would council her. She seems to have alot of support and very involved in her family. It is nice to have someone on the ticket you can really believe in....that supports conservative, family values. And a women to boot. Fathers and families is a post for another day. That has been a debate forever.

I read a great article about Palin in the NYTimes(?). It told how when she was elected Governor, her life was pretty settled kid wise. She was surprised to be pregnant but rolled with it (Special Needs and all). I admire her record as a reformer and I am glad she is an outsider. I also identify with her and feel comforted knowing she will make decisions that affect me (a conservative mom of 5). I am VERY excited she is a candidate and hope she wins. I am shocked at the feminists who are blasting her stance on abortion when really she should be free to make the choice to be pro-life without all women's organizations withdrawing their support of her. I want less government and less corruption. I now am excited to vote!
