Braces

Jack got braces for his teeth about two weeks ago. He was very excited about it. I told him pain was involved. He did not care. Now reality is hitting him. Pain, oh the pain and chapped lips, oh the chapped lips. Playing the trumpet is no bed of roses either. He says he can tell a diference already and I think he may be right, but he still has about eighteen more months to go. I am looking for soft foods for him to eat. If liked more things this would be so much easier.

I feel his pain... literally. I am now an adult with braces, which is no fun. But it is much more fun than trying to play the coronet/trumpet with them when I was in Jr. High. The only thing that got me through it was the wax strips my ortho gave me. I could push them over the braces and protect my lips. It wasn't pretty, but at least I made 1st chair! Artists have to suffer for our work, right? :-)

I told him to do this, but will he listen to me....uh no. So now I will let you be the voice of reason. Thanks!

Well, Jack, now you know this pain of mine. You are so LUCKY!!! You have 18 months to go, while I, on the other hand, have lived through it 8 months, and still have a year and a half to go! *Pouts* Lucky! If you want a soft food to eat I recommend bread (not toasted!) with butter. And muffins. Cupcakes. PASTRIES! Oh, how I love the sweet goodness. Pretty much the only foods I can think of are sweets! I think most sweets are soft, because who wants to eat a hard sugary goodness? Personally, not me. About the trumpet thing. I don't know how that feels, because I don't play an instrument. Well, hang in there. Endure, Jack.
P.S. I don't like my wax, either. I choked on it one night.

Mackenzie.....Thanks for the tip. My braces actually don't hurt that much anymore. My mom was wrong I get to have them on for 2 years, so I have a while. I totally agree with you on the sweets.

Well, Jack, I guess we have about the same amount of time, though I'll get mine off a little earlier. And at least SOMEONE understands my love and theory about sweets! I hear you're coming over for Thanksgiving. See you then!!
