Egg Drop

Our home school Co-op had the last meeting of the semester about two weeks ago. One of the family's decided to host an Egg Drop. The kids had to engineer some sort of contraption that would keep their egg from breaking. They really enjoyed this activity. Blake had seen a show about tornadoes and saw where an egg carton was picked up and carried miles from its home and set down without breaking one egg, so he chose an egg carton. Of course he stuffed it full of cushioning. Sam wanted his egg to have a pillow to rest on, while he stuck wooden rods around the egg to distribute the weight out. Jack built a contraptions that would take the initial impact of the crash and buckle up, kind of like a car, and thus saving the egg from breaking.

The kids were so excited to see how their eggs would fare. All made it through the first round! Blake's and Sam's however did not make it through the second round.
Jack just wanted to bean something with his egg. It was really funny because all the kids were following him down a path into the woods to watch. They were all giddy with anticipation. This was a short lived excitement. He aimed it at the trunk of a tree and splat egg every where.

Then we had some games to end the day. The ever popular water balloon toss. Claire and Riley had to have pink balloons to toss and kept dropping and breaking them before we could even start. I think we went through four balloons with them and even more tears. In the end they had fun.

This is the group of kids in our Co-op. We had a great time this year and learned a bunch! Thank you to the other mothers that worked so hard on everything you are awesome.
