Turnips and Pumpkins!

We decided to do a little research into Halloween. It turns out turnips were some of the first Jack-O-Lanterns, short for "Jack of the Lantern" Read all about it:)
It was Sam's idea to carve the turnips. Claire did not want to be left out.
The carving took sometime. Turnips are not as easy as pumpkins.
Sam figured it out and did a great job.

Blake worked, and worked, and worked....

Pumpkins were next.......Well a week later!
I am in none of the picks. My job is to scrape out said pumpkins. I scrapped Claire's completely and then the boys a little. They needed to learn how to do this. Then I come in with the clean up.
Sam had the great idea to use some gloves. This worked pretty well.
Skip gets to help with the carving and and Claire was thrilled with how well it turned out.
Next up Blake's.
Sam carved his own. The mouth was huge. What do you do with a huge mouth? You insert your carved turnip.
Another happy customer!
This is Jack's Pumpkin. It sat here for another day. I do love the black plastic that wraps up all the mess in one single swoop.
It took a while.....
